Semiya Kheer

This is a Indian dessert made out of vermicelli. My main focus on this blog is to include recipes for babies/kids as much possible and generally include the one that I usually give for my lil one. Since I dint get time to try any new things, today I thought of preparing kheer for Vihaan rather than giving him rice. Kheer with dry fruits! and to my surprise he had it on his own :) In the usual semiya kheer I did grounded the roasted ground nuts and added.

Ingredients:

Semiya/Vermicelli
1 cup
Ghee
1 table spoon
Milk
1 glass
Water
¼ glass
Almonds
5-6
Cashew nuts
5-6
Salt
pinch of
Cardamom powder
Pinch of
Dry grapes
7-8
Sugar
5 tea spoon

 Steps:

  1. Dry roast all the dry fruits like cashew nuts, almonds and dry grapes. You can also add half a tea spoon of ghee and roast.
  2. Grind almonds and cashew nuts to powder in a grinder.
  3. Roast vermicelli in a tea spoon of ghee until golden brown in color.
  4. In a vessel add milk, sugar and water together and heat until it gets boiled. To this add vermicelli, powdered dry fruits, cardamom powder and a pinch of salt.
  5. Add roasted dry grapes to this.
  6. Mix well and cover the vessel with a lid. Allow it to get cooked for 3-4 mins, by then vermicelli absorbs almost all the milk.
  7. Again add little amount of milk and a spoon of ghee.

Notes:
You can also add the other dry fruits that you have, or cherries / strawberries.
